The Just Transition Platform (JTP) working group meetings in Narva

 


The Just Transition Platform (JTP) working group meetings took place in Narva, Estonia, bringing together experts and stakeholders committed to supporting Europe’s coal region transition to coal phasing out.


The meetings provided an excellent opportunity for knowledge exchange, cooperation, and discussion on how regions can navigate the green transition in a fair, inclusive, and economically sustainable way.

Key highlights from the meetings included:

✅ Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration with local communities and regional stakeholders through transparent communication and inclusive participation. Particular attention was given to sharing good practices and practical tools that support effective engagement throughout the transition process.

✅ Future Planning & Regional Partnerships
Participants explored the structure of future National Regional Partnership Plans (NRPPs) and other strategic initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable regional development, innovation, and resilience.

✅ Industrial Innovation & Strategic Autonomy
As part of the programme, we visited the Neo magnet factory in Narva — an impressive example of how Just Transition funding can support innovative industrial investments. The factory produces magnets used in sectors such as electric vehicles and wind energy, contributing to Europe’s green transition and strengthening strategic autonomy in key technologies.

✅ Knowledge Sharing & International Cooperation
The event created a valuable platform for professional dialogue, exchange of experiences, and cooperation among institutions and regional actors working toward a more sustainable and equitable future.

It was an inspiring experience to engage with dedicated professionals and organizations who are actively shaping the future of Europe’s transitioning regions.

  An inspiring Just Transition Platform Conference took place in Bruxelles on 15 and 16th of October. A more inspiring working group on Stakeholder Engagement on the 17th of October where knowledge, experience and willingness to support energy intensive regions paved the way to new actions.
