TGK1 & TGK2 Annual Meeting | RFCS 2025


We’re in the final stretch of an inspiring two-day joint meeting of the TGK1 & TGK2 Technical Groups under the EU’s European Research Executive Agency (REA) RFCS Fund for Coal and Steel, hosted by the Πολυτεχνείο Κρήτης - Technical University of Crete.

Over the past day and a half, we’ve:
 ✅ Showcased 11 innovative research projects already funded by the European Research Executive Agency (REA) under the RFCS programme, addressing critical challenges in post-mining land use, environmental protection, carbon utilization, and the green transition
 ✅ Engaged in high-level policy discussions on the alignment of research outcomes with the European Green Deal and future RFCS priorities
 ✅ Held a strategic roundtable exploring societal impact, industrial scalability, and cross-programme collaboration across the EU research landscape

🎯 Projects presented include:

🔬 This afternoon, we look forward to lab visits at the Technical University of Crete, seeing firsthand how scientific research translates into practical solutions.

10th Just Transition Platform Conference and Working Groups on Stakeholder Engagement DG Regio

  An inspiring Just Transition Platform Conference took place in Bruxelles on 15 and 16th of October. A more inspiring working group on Stakeholder Engagement on the 17th of October where knowledge, experience and willingness to support energy intensive regions paved the way to new actions. I would like to express my gratitude to all experts for their support.                                   Από τις πρώτες πρέσβειρες της Ευρωπαϊκής Πράσινης Συμφωνίας και του Συμφώνου για το Κλίμα είναι η  Κωνσταντίνα Τογκαρίδου , εμπειρογνώμων για τη δίκαιη μετάβαση (Just Transition Expert). Με βάση της τη Δυτική Μακεδονία η κυρία Τογκαρίδου δραστηριοποιείται στο κομμάτι της δίκαιης μετάβασης επιχειρώντας να "προωθήσει" την αναγκαιότητα της πράσινης μετάβασης προς την πράσινη ανάπτυξη. «Αυτό που τονίζω κάθε φορά είναι τους λόγους που ήταν επιτακτική ανάγκη η απολιγνιτοποίηση στην Δυτική Μακεδονία ως μέρος της ευρωπαϊκής Πράσινης Συμφωνίας. Συμμετέχω σε δράσεις οι οποίες έχουν να κάνουν με συσχετισμό περιβαλλοντολογικών θεμάτων και μιας δίκαιης μετάβασης και μιας πράσινης γενικότερα μετάβασης, μέσω της συμμετοχής μου σε σχετικά συνέδρια και σεμινάρια.
